It’s a Wednesday night and you have decided that you want to MAKE something. But, where on campus do you go if you want to do some sewing? Perhaps you have an itch to turn something on a lathe or want just want to send a radio wave around the world?
Tinkersoc, Kent’s Maker society, is the place to go. Whether it’s 3D printing something, or cutting through materials with lasers, we have the tools and experience to help you with your project. We even run workshops, so that you can pick up new skills (no experience is required!)
So, if this has peaked your interest and you want to hang out with like-minded people who enjoy making things, then pop along to The Shed (the School of Computing’s Makerspace located in the Cornwallis Quad) from 6PM on a Wednesday night! Tinkersoc is free for all Kent students.
The University of Kent Engineering Society is a student body which works alongside the University of Kent's engineering school (EDA - School of Engineering and Digital Arts), major engineering institutions and engineering firms to provide students with opportunities to network, volunteer, contribute to projects, make the most out of their time at University and most of all, have fun!
The University of Kent Engineering Society has under is now organizing some of the hottest networking events on and off campus, industrial trips to some of Britain's largest and most popular Engineering firm sites, and opportunities to volunteer in 'STEM encouragement' events across the country! Engineering Society is free for all Kent students.
Kent Union Technical Services is an award winning volunteering group run by students at the University of Kent, Canterbury. We cater for all types of events including Festivals, Corporate Events, Student Events and Live Music. We offer sound, lighting and stage hire. We are also a consultancy service to societies, bars, individuals and other groups/organisations on and off campus here at UKC.
Do you want to get involved with us and meet new people? You don't need any experience or knowledge of our equipment. We can teach you everything you need to know! We can provide certificated safety training for active members of Kent Tech. Such as Manual Handling, Electrical Safety, Fire Safety Awareness and First Aid. Any hours of volunteering done under Kent Tech can count toward many student awards and it looks great on your CV!

Rocketry is a unique, exciting, and challenging field of study (after all, it is rocket science). The work of building a functioning rocket is a multidisciplinary challenge. This society provides a great opportunity for students interested in pursuing a wide range of topics (like physical science, engineering, design, business management, visual arts, and more) to come together and make something exceptional.
